Full container or consolidated cargo

Ocean Freight

FCL and LCL shipments for imports and exports, with every stage carefully planned.

Overview

Ocean freight is the backbone of international trade for medium and large volumes. AV Global Express plans full container load (FCL) and consolidated (LCL) shipments, for both imports and exports.

We assess the cargo characteristics, the required transit time and the agreed Incoterm to recommend the most suitable option and coordinate each stage with the carriers.

What we offer

  • FCL — full container load dedicated to your cargo
  • LCL — less than container load, consolidated with other shipments
  • Import and export operations
  • Quotation and space booking with carriers
  • Guidance on shipping documentation

Ocean Freight

When to choose it

  • Volumes that fill a good part of a container: FCL tends to be more cost-effective

  • Smaller shipments that don't justify a full container: LCL is the alternative

  • Goods where cost per unit matters more than transit time

  • Heavy or bulky cargo that rules out air freight

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

With FCL (Full Container Load) the container is dedicated to your cargo. With LCL (Less than Container Load) your cargo shares the container with other shipments, and freight is based on the space and weight it takes up.

How is LCL freight calculated?

Usually by the W/M (weight or measurement) rule: the greater of the weight in metric tons or the volume in cubic meters. Our quote form estimates it automatically.

What information do I need to get a quote?

Origin and destination, type of operation, Incoterm, a description of the goods and the cargo details: container type and quantity (FCL) or number, dimensions and weight of packages (LCL).
